Hello, my name is Barbara Jane Banks, I am a qualified art teacher and artist and hold art classes in the café, here at the church. Instruction is suited to each individual’s needs and I give encouragement and tuition in all the main mediums, whether you are a complete beginner or at an intermediate level emphasizing your own creativity. Or perhaps you have painted for years but want to try a new medium or have a refresher course, then these classes are for you. The facility is light and airy with no more than 8 in a group.

With access to the beautiful gardens here, we can also paint outside on occasion. We have a tea, coffee and biscuits break mid lesson or bring your own refreshment, plus the lessons are supported by useful handouts and occasional demos.

Acrylics Monday 10am – 12 Themes and subjects are suggested at the start of term, with an emphasis on mastering the varied techniques of this versatile, water based medium.

General Painting and Drawing Monday 3pm – 5pm. All painting mediums, mixed media and drawing are covered in these lessons. Try something new, or continue your art journey in a favourite medium following suggested topics.
General Painting Wednesday 3 – 5.30 Develop your style and technique in your favourite medium or a new one. These classes encourage you to be adventurous as we look at various themes, topics and art movements/artists.
